A couple of years ago I became a card-carrying member of the "Sandwich Generation" - kids on one side, elderly parents on the other. Add in a house, husband, business...well, 24 hours in a day doesn't always cut it. A friend told me she was recently at the end of her holiday rope, and decided to hire a personal assistant. This sounded quite interesting, so I contacted Linda Kosar, the owner of Let Linda Know, a personal concierge service, to get the scoop. Linda said her goal is to simplify your life. She helps with life management tasks, personal or business. She does everything from grocery shopping and running errands to having your car serviced or planning a dinner party. She can wait for repairmen at your home or find the perfect birthday gift. Linda takes it a step further and will actually help you organize your home - she said her passion is to help people. The concept sounded intriguing, but I bet you are wondering, as I was - can I afford a personal assistant? I am not sure about other concierge services, but Linda has only a two hour minimum, so she can be used on an "as-needed" basis. I love learning about new businesses that can help make our lives more enjoyable. For more info about Let Linda Know, check out the Q&A below and visit her website at letlindaknow.com
Q. Linda, I am feeling completely overwhelmed. I have a home, a business, a family...you get the picture. I am intrigued, but I have no idea what a personal assistant does. How can you help?
A. In these moments, having a personal assistant to provide services to relieve you, helps manage your personal and/or business life. It can also be rewarding to yourself and guests while you enjoy and relax during these special moments. When you are overwhelmed, life does feel chaotic; we’ve all had moments of feeling stressed. Some days those “to do” tasks accumulate and a concierge service really does simplify your life.
Q. What kind of errands will you do? Will you really even grocery shop?
A. I can help you with life management tasks, any type of errands such as picking up your dry cleaning, running your postal errands, bringing your car to get your oil changed, grocery shopping and unpacking your items, wait at the house for a repairman...There is such an array of services I offer.
Q. Ok, that sounds great, but...I'm not sure I can afford a personal assistant. Do I have to hire you on a permanent basis or for many hours? Is there a minimum?
A. You can use my services hours at a time, or a few here and there, you choose and there is a minimum of 2 hours. What ever makes your life easier, I am here to help.
Q. Wow, I just remembered I'm also planning a baby shower! Can you help with events, dinner parties, etc? We do a lot of entertaining, but I'd like to enjoy my own parties!
A. Yes. I can plan your baby shower, dinner parties and social gatherings, so you can relax and enjoy your event.
Q. Linda, you sound like a Fairy Godmother! Any other talents you have that I might need?
A. Home organization.
