Have you ever wondered why some colors look great on you but others seem to make you look washed out? This could be because of the undertones of the color you are wearing. All colors are made up of lots of different colors & these combinations affect how they look on you, depending upon your skin tone.
Cooler skin tones look better in blue based colors such as navy, purple, charcoal, emerald green & bright whites.
Warmer skin tones look better in yellow based colors such as brown, coral, orange, olive green, maroon & ivory/off white shades.
How do you know which one you are? The easiest way to do this is to take 2 scarves, one bright white & one ivory. Wrap each scarf around next to your face & see which one makes you look great. Usually one of the shades will light up your face while the other is more ergh. If you look great in the bright white one you are a cool skin tone. If the ivory looks better you are a warm skin tone.
These are not hard & fast rules, some cooler skin tones can wear some 'warmer' colors, & vice versa, but generally, we all lean towards one or the other.
