As we look ahead into fall and note the upcoming fashion and makeup trends, it's pretty obvious that a fullish groomed eyebrow is definitely a look that is not going away anytime soon. I don't know about you, but my brows have taken a downward dive in the past few years. They were once too bushy and needed frequent plucking, but too often I actually overdid it with the tweezers and now I am left with not only thinning brows, but also with brows that are too far apart. Trying to grow in the over plucked areas takes forever. Solution? Go to a professional. I went to a lady at a salon nearby and she recommended shaping as well as dying my brows. The result was amazing! It is now much easier for me to groom my brows and definitely speeds up my morning routing. This photo is not me (unfortunately!) but this look is here to stay for a while. If you get your hair colored, it is super easy to have the salon also color/tint your brows. You won't believe how much this helps! ~ Cathy

So here in Houston we are still in the throes of a very hot summer. On that note, we have been showcasing a number of white dress options, and I just came across this winner. It really caught my eye as I am a sucker for crochet dresses. This one features a black underlay and a removable collar. It looks very crisp, fresh and inviting. Wouldn't these black patent Tory Burch flat sandals polish it off nicely? ~ Cathy

I have an endless supply of embarrassing family photos. I'm the cutie on the left - remember when these "Heidi" braids were in style? I don't either. The too-long bell bottoms complete the look. My mom is sporting the classic bouffant, cat-eye glasses and 60's tunic. My sister seems a bit shy about her "gypsy" haircut. Somehow, the Do Not Feed sign seems appropriate. ~ Pat
I'm always on the lookout for a new lip gloss or makeup line in general. My boss has mentioned Julep a few times and when I checked it out, I was hooked! The lip gloss is stellar, with a fabulous array of colors and priced decently too! I love the nail polish selections with their super cool packaging. And as an added bonus, it is free of harmful chemicals. Have you tried Julep? ~ Cathy

Statement necklaces have been around for awhile, but this stunner from Stella & Dot caught my eye. In mixed metals, the layers come apart to be worn separately as well. This versatile piece can then be worn more simply with casual wear, or you can go all-out for evening as a bold accessory. This now has a happy home in my jewelry wardrobe!

My love affair with maxi dresses continues! I am always on the lookout for pretty yet comfortable options that I can pack easily for weekend getaways. This one would check all of the boxes. Plus the positioning of the stripes makes this a very flattering choice too! ~ Cathy
I spotted this great dress from the Worth New York fall collection and it brought me back to some 60's styles that I loved. Sleeveless, swingy, and with a geometric pattern, this would be a perfect work-to-evening dress. Poppy red is a huge color this fall, and you can never go wrong with black and white. Everything old really is new again! ~ Pat

Do you have a love of lipstick? Do you have a big box in your bathroom where keep a vast assortment of varieties and colors? I sure do! I like trying different brands and experimenting with colors all the time. While I do enjoy the luxe brands, I am always delighted when I find one that is super cheap and looks great! Here is a favorite. ~ Cathy

I felt a bit of cool air when reading the Fall edition of one of my favorite magazines, InStyle. This issue is packed with great styles and tips - pick it up on your newsstand now. Some of my favorite Fall trends are more booties (closed and peep toe), capes, the color poppy red, layered delicate chains, bell-sleeved blouses and sweaters, and the never-out-of-style leather jacket.
Can't wait! ~ Pat.
The temps are high but you don't have to loose your cool. A dress like this breezy maxi would be idea for a lunch outing, a fun day with your pals or a casual date night. I love it paired with these fabulous gold Kendra Scott earrings. What do you think? ~ Cathy.
Remember when we all wore jewelry with our names or initials? I had a bracelet with my first name spelled out that I wore everywhere. I was so pleased to find this pendant from Stella & Dot jewelry. It's my new signature piece that I can layer with other chains or wear alone. It comes in silver or gold. Love it! ~ Pat

That's what we thought! But in the fashion world, mid August means the start of Fall Fashion Season. Pat Boland and I took in our first show that was put on at Tootsies by the women's networking group Ellevate. Gorgeous outfits from various designers were worn by stunning models.Designers included: #rebeccataylor #milly #Dianevonfurstenberg #normakamali #blackhalo
Choosing an outfit to wear to any fashion show is always a bit challenging. You want to look current and stylish but summery dresses don't seem quite right for such an event. Pat and I both ended up wearing fitted black pants with flowey blouses and strappy black heels as we mentally shoped for new fall ensembles. ~ Cathy

If you are in Houston this weekend, you may very well be attending the annual White Linen Nights event. I know I am. As to not be a dud, wearing white is must! I am loving these pretty options. Now if I can just keep from spilling something... ~ Cathy.
This family heirloom is circa 1925, taken in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I'm sure the swimsuits were quite stylish at the time. And we can only ponder what the "knee socks" mean. Aren't the matching haircuts really cute? These three sisters were having a ball at the beach. Hard to believe this was almost 100 years ago, and the bathing beauty on the left is my grandma. Have a sunny day ~ Pat.
A summer glow is such a nice fringe benefit of spending time at the beach or poolside. But to fully enhance the look, this NARS body glow has always been my favorite. It is a little pricey so I use it sparingly and it lasts for months. Plus it smells incredible! ~ Cathy.
